Superior Shade partnered with the community at Searchlight Park to deliver custom shade solutions that enhance a western-themed playground while providing reliable protection from the Nevada sun. The project balanced durability, comfort, and design to maintain the park’s rustic, natural character.
At the heart of the project features two large playground shade.
The first is a 27' x 27' x 16' Multi-Panel Hip Shade installed over the main playground. Featuring a brown frame paired with forest green fabric, the structure complements the western theme and blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. The layered panel design adds architectural interest while preserving a cohesive, natural look.
The second large shade is a five-column, two-sail shade over a western facade playground. This playground sail shade also features a brown frame and forest green fabric.
The park includes a total of three shade structures designed to protect key activity areas:
A five-column, two-sail shade covering a western facade playground feature
A one-bay swing shade to extend comfort and usability to the swing area
Each shade element was color-matched to reinforce the western aesthetic across the site.
To support future site enhancements, the columns on both the multi-panel hip shade and the sail shade were custom fabricated with integrated electrical access holes. This thoughtful detail allows for lighting or electrical additions without impacting the appearance or performance of the structures.
The completed shade installations provide expansive sun protection while enhancing the park’s visual identity. By combining custom engineering with theme-aligned design, Superior Shade helped create a comfortable, functional, and inviting play environment that can be enjoyed year-round.
