Superior Shade, a leading shade solution provider, recently worked on a project to provide custom bleacher shade throughout the United States Specialty Sports Association’s (USSSA) new national headquarters, the USSSA Space Coast Complex in Viera, Florida. The construction was carried out by contractor Wharton-Smith, who broke ground in April 2017 and completed renovations in January 2018.
The USSSA was looking for a solution to incorporate shade so that spectators could stay cool and comfortable while enjoying a game. Superior Shade provided over 28,000 square feet of shade solutions in this renovation. The company's team worked closely with the client to understand their requirements and design solutions that would meet their needs.
The shade solutions include 18 T-Cantilevers that shade bleachers at each baseball and softball field, as well as a custom stadium shade that protects the grandstands at the championship field. The combination of True Blue fabric and a sleek black frame perfectly complements the stadium's color scheme, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the venue. This addition not only adds to the original sleek and effective design of the place but also creates a visually stunning and cohesive look. The client chose the cantilever design for its ability to provide unobstructed views. The shades create an exciting and comfortable sporting environment that fans and athletes can enjoy.
“The Pride Field is the showcase for the venue. It provides an easily identifiable landmark for the fans,” Ray Bowen, Senior Project Manager for Wharton-Smith, said. The project was a success, and the USSSA now has a state-of-the-art facility that provides shade and comfort to its spectators.
